PAC Report----Buenaventura Golf Course Update  

 

Buenaventura Golf Course will  be opening on May 2 to the public, however, only 14 holes will be available. Reservations for the course will be open seven days prior. The 14 hole configuration does not necessarily mean that it will be the final configuration. 

 

The hydrology report from Pace Engineering will provide three studies based on 25, 50 and 100-year flood plans. Under consideration are three separate plans.

 

1. The grading model plan that would elevate tee and landing areas. This plan would integrate low area and  flood management. 18 holes would be available.

2. The berm model that would construct a berm to protect the course from flooding. A berm would require  some golf course land. Either 12 holes would be the final configuration or 9 holes with a practice area. 

3. Finally, a hybrid model gradation level plan that incorporates features that would protect the course from  25 to100 year flooding. 18 holes would be available with this plan.

These models will be reviewed on May 2 for feedback and become part of the hydrology report issued on May 25. As you can see the city is trying to get this right, while operating under the complicated constraints of FEMA.

 

Olivas Links Golf Course - The new trailers have a purchase agreement and the city is awaiting execution by the fabricator. Once the contract is finalized the fabricator will provide a design of the new trailers. This design coupled with a geotechnical report will provide the site plan contractor the necessary information to design and construct the site preparation for the new trailers. Meanwhile, the agreement to remove the old trailers is completed and awaiting a date from the city to vacate. 

 

Finally, a Q.R. code will be available on our golf carts that  will provide infrastructure information when scanned, for those interested.
