RENOVATION UPDATE as of 10/19/2026
Dear Fellow Golfers,
On October 13, the City Council of Ventura passed a funding request for over one million dollars to construct the necessary site work and install our new temporary trailers at Olivas Links Golf Course. Additionally, at the council meeting Council-member Schumacher sought clarification from Deputy City Manager Brick Conner that the city was proceeding with the preliminary design for a new clubhouse and cart barn. Mr. Conner indicated the preliminary design for a cost estimate would be ready on January 13, 2027, for public input and final council approval in early April. They both wanted golfers to know that the temporary trailers were a “bridge” until a new clubhouse and cart barn could be constructed.
Currently over $100,000 has been expended on our “interim” temporary trailer rentals while the design for the site work has proceeded. Additionally, concession revenues have been severely reduced due to liquor sales prohibited by the removal of the old trailers. Further challenges await us as site work construction and trailer installation face a challenging El Nino winter that could prolong this effort. In short, this effort has been frustrating, expensive and slow. We thank the city for moving forward and specifically Deputy City Manager Conner, for his assistance in shepherding these challenging projects.
