RENOVATION UPDATE ---- as of JULY 2026
Message from --> BILL G. HOPE
Hello,
Please be advised that Ventura City Council will be selecting the designer for the preliminary design of the Olivas Links clubhouse at the July 14 council meeting. The designer selected is the Dahlin Group Inc. who have over 50 years experience in this type of project and partnered with over 50 municipalities. Below you will find for your review their proposed scope for our course. We hope that you will take the opportunity to visit council chambers for this event in a show of support for the project. Open forum begins at 5:00 pm and the meeting is located at City Hall on 501 Poli Street in Ventura. Thank you for your continued support.

PROPOSAL FOR OLIVAS LINKS GOLF COURSE PERMANENT STRUCTURE DESIGN23
E. SCOPE OF WORK SITE STUDY
The Olivas Links Golf Course is set up to allow the new
clubhouse to take advantage of the natural beauty of the
surrounding golf course while complimenting the existing historic Olivas Adobe.
We took this opportunity to do a quick site study, looking
at the existing layout and possibilities given the intended project program.
The Golf Course entry off Olivas Park Drive welcomes visitors
with a formal signage and a welcome to the joint site hosting
the Olivas Links Golf Course and Historic Olivas Adobe.
The iconic signage and public artwork make a statement
that you have arrived at a special place. The current layout
features a roundabout that could become a formal bag drop
area, providing easy navigation for your guests to a new
clubhouse main entry and to the adjacent existing parking
area, creating an enhanced experience and feel for a public golf course.
With the clubhouse aligned along this axis, the opportunity
is provided to allow the social areas of the clubhouse to
open up to the western views, creating expansive vistas
across the beautifully landscaped golf course
and out toward the Pacific Ocean.
Placing the pro-shop at the end of the building, there is
further opportunity to anchor the control desk within an
iconic tower element that could become a focal point from
the golf course as players view the from a distance. The
cart barn and maintenance spaces can share an area on
the opposite side of the entry, tucked in by the natural
landscaping and trees that provide it screening and minimize
some of the visual impacts of these areas. The existing pad
site is situated within a flood zone and would be elevated
slightly to allow the building to sit above this plain. In
elevating the site, this would provide an opportunity to lift
up the social areas to the west of the clubhouse and provide
enhanced views back over the golf course.
